Gimpo Airport Station!

Many people visit Jeju Island as well during their Korea trip. If you are taking a flight to Jeju Island from Seoul, you will come to Gimpo Airport Station, where it has Airport Railroad, Subway Line 5, Line 9 and Gimpo Goldline. As compared to other subway stations, Gimpo Airport Station has more lines and floors, so it feels a bit complicated to go around in the station if you seldom come here.

In this post, we will show you some tips on how to use the Gimpo Airport Station.

Gimpo Airport Station consists of several floors - from B1 floor to B4  Floor. To take AREX, you have to go to B3 floor (Seoul Station direction) and B4 floor (Incheon Int'l Airport direction).

[Fastest Way to Get to Gimpo Airport]

- Starting point: B4 Floor, Airport Railroad (Incheon Int'l Airport direction).

If you get off at Gimpo Airport B4 floor, you can use the escalator near Car #6-4 and #4-1 to get to B1 floor. Then, exit at the ticket gate and walk straight to get to Gimpo Airport. If you walk straight on the left, you can get to Gimpo Airport Domestic Terminal, and if you follow the right, it will be Gimpo Airport International Airport.

If you wish to take the elevator to get to B1 floor, you can find it at Car #2-1.

- Starting point: B3 Floor, Airport Railroad (Seoul Station direction).

If you get off at B3 floor, you can take the escalator from Car #3-2 and #5-1. Besides that, you can also take the elevator which is near Car #4-1.

[Fastest Way to Transfer]

B4 Floor

- Transfer to Subway Line 9 (Gyehwa direction)

Both AREX (Incheon Airport Station direction) and Subway Line 9 (Gaehwa Station direction) are located on B4 floor.

If you took the AREX from Incheon Airport Station, you can transfer to Subway Line 9 on the opposite side.

If you took the AREX from Seoul Station, you need to go to B3 floor.

B3 Floor

On B3 floor, there is AREX (Seoul Station direction), Subway Line 9 (VHS Medical Center Station direction) and Subway Line 5 (Macheon Station direction)

- To Transfer to Subway Line 9 (VHS Medical Center direction)

If you took the AREX from Incheon Airport Station, you can transfer to Subway Line 9 on the opposite side.

If you took the AREX from Seoul Station, you need to go up B4 floor.

- Transfer to Subway Line 5 (Macheon Station direction)

If you came from AREX Seoul Station to Gimpo Airport Station, you can get off at Car 6-4 for the fastest transfer to Subway Line 5 (Macheon Station direction).

B2 Floor

You can transfer to Subway Line 5 (Banghwa Station direction) and Gimpo Goldline on B2 Floor.

If you get off the train/subway on B3 or B4 floor, you can take the escalator or elevator to go to B2 Floor, and you will be able to transfer to Subway Line 5 (Banghwa direction) or Gimpo Goldline. If you want to transfer to Gimpo Goldline, after the transfer gate, keep walking on the right side.

There is a restroom next to the ticket gate on B1 floor.

Outside ticket gate

Another restroom can be found outside the ticket gate, near the Exit 4 on B1 floor.

There is GS25 convenience store outside the station ticket gate, before going to Gimpo Airport Domestic Terminal and International Terminal.

-- E-cart service for traffic-vulnerable people.

The disabled, elderly, expecting mother or customer with infant/child can ride the FREE e-cart to get from AREX station to Gimpo Airport Domestic Terminal.

-- Information Center & Travel Center

At B1 Floor, there is a Customer Information Center and AREX Travel Center beside the ticket gate. The AREX Travel Center is currently not operating due to COVID-19.

-- Storage Locker & Smart Tourist Information System 

The storage locker can be found when you walk towards Exit 4.

In the Gimpo Airport Station, you can find the Smart Tourist Information System outside the ticket gate, near Dunkin' Donuts. You will be able to get various information about Korea tourism, transportation, and others using this system. In addition, there is also wireless charger where you can use it. You can also check your transportation card balance here!

Before getting out from the ticket gate, you will see a foreign currency ATM.

-- Shops inside Gimpo Airport Station

There is Cafe Del Tren located on B3 floor, near the Car #6-4.

You can find Dunkin' Donuts outside the ticket gate. The store is quite big so you can take a rest while enjoying a cup of coffee and snacks before heading to next destination.

Also, there are small stalls selling handphone accessories and cap outside the ticket gate.

[Attractions around Gimpo Airport Station]

Let us introduce you the Gimpo Airport Observatory where you can watch the airplanes at the nearest distance. It will make you feel even more excited for your trip if you visit the observatory before boarding the plane.

Take the escalator from Gimpo Airport Domestic Terminal boarding place on the 3rd floor to SKY 31 Food Avenue (4th floor), and you will come to the Gimpo Airport Observatory.

After passing by the Food Avenue, you will arrive at the Gimpo Airport Observatory.

If you come out to the entrance of the observatory, there is a bench where you can take a rest while enjoying the view. The Gimpo Airport Observatory is the closest place to see the planes in Seoul. If you come here in the evening before sunset, you can enjoy more beautiful scenery with the sunset.

Digital Media City Station is the center of media and entertainment such as Korean dramas and K-pop songs that are popular around the world. At AREX Digital Media City Station, you can transfer to the Gyeongui-Jungang Line and Subway Line 6. In this post, we will introduce the facilities and share some tips about Digital Media City Station.

[Fastest Way to Transfer]

The fastest way to transfer from AREX station to Gyeongui-Jungang Line & Subway Line 6 is to get off the train at Car #2-3 (heading Seoul Station) and Car #6-4 (heading Incheon Airport), then take the escalator.

Exit 7 is located on the left side of the transfer gate while Exit 8 and 9 are located opposite Exit 7. There are many exits at Digital Media City Station, thus it will be more convenient if you remember how to get to the exit.

[Facilities]

The restroom can be found inside the station after entering the ticket gate. It is located next to the elevator to the platform for Incheon Airport direction.

 The storagelocker is located inside the ticket gate near Exit 8 and 9.

The Information Center is located on the right side of the gate (it's facing the gate) when heading Exit 8 and 9. If you need help from the station staff, It is available both inside and outside the gate.

There is a convenience store on the way when you are going to transfer to Gyeongui-Jungang Line & Subway Line 6.

Outside the Exit 7 (on the left of the transfer gate), you will see the Digital Media City Station Car park.

When you go up the escalator from the platform, there is a flower shop and a store that sells hat, scarf, etc,

Along the way to transfer to another line

After tagging the transportation card at the transfer gate to Gyeonggui-Jungang Line and Subway Line 6, there is Dunkin Donuts and a shop selling gimbap, fish cakes,etc.

Getting to Exit 8 and 9

Hansang Dream is a shop selling Korean side dishes, just next to Choi Kang Fish Cake and located near the exit 8 and 9.

--Making your own transportation card

At Digital Media City Station, the center of K-contents, there is a machine that allows you to make your own transportation card. You can choose the current design available in the machine  or use your own picture of your favorite Kpop idol. The custom-made transportation card costs KRW 6,000 but it does not come with pre-loaded value. Therefore, you need to top up the card before using it.

Wow! You can make a photo card with your favorite pictures! Since it can also be used as a transportation card, we recommend you to get this as a special souvenir.

[Attraction around Digital Media City Station]

Haneul Sky Park is the popular place for you can see the waves of silver grass every Autumn, but it is also famous for people to go for a walk while enjoying blue sky and green plants in Summer.

If it is a cooling day, it is okay to take a walk to the top of the park but in the hot summer, it is recommended to take the electric shuttle car.

The stop for the electric shuttle bus is located right next to the car park of Haneul Sky Park. It costs KRW 3,000 for round trip and KRW 2,000 one way.

Schedule:

1) To Haneul Sky Park -> interval: 10 - 20 mins

2) To Noeul Park Golf -> interval: 30 mins

There is an observatory at the peak of Sky Park, where you can get here by taking the electric shuttle car. On a clear day, you will be able to enjoy breathtaking view and can spot many mountain top too.

Haneul Sky Park is very famous for silver grass in Autumn. If you come here during summer, we recommend you to visit the metasequoia path with tall trees.

Metasequoia path is located a little far from the car park of Haneul Sky Park. After enjoying yourself at the peak of Haneul Sky Park, take the electric shuttle car and tell the driver that you want to go to  "Metasequoia-gil". The driver will drop you off at a big intersection.

After getting off, walk a little bit to the left and you will see the gate "Nanji 1(il) mun", and you will be able to get to the Metasequoia path in Seoul.

You can take many beautiful pictures at this Metasequoia Road with trees that stretch so high that it seems like it reached the sky. We recommend this healing place around AREX Digital Media City Station for you to visit!
