When you visit Korea in Spring, the weather makes you want to take a walk along the Hangang River to enjoy the cool breeze and be relaxed. In this post, we will introduce a special place where you can grill and enjoy Korean BBQ right next to the Hangang River.
Restaurant Jamdubong The 9 (잠두봉더나인)
It might take some time if you want to get there on foot, but it is fine if you are going there on a nice spring day. Take the AREX train to Hongik University Station, transfer to Subway Line 2 and get off at Hapjeong Station Exit 7. From the exit, just walk straight until you see the sign that shows Mangwon district of Hangang Park. Just follow the sign, you will come to Yanghwa Bridge, which you can take the stairs to enter the Hangang Park.
After you take the stairs down, you will see Jamdubong dock. The former name of Jamdubong dock was the Hangang Cruise dock, and it is now operated as a convenience store and restaurant.
After you enter the Jamdubong dock, there is indoor and outdoor. If you go to the outdoor, you can see the Hangang River. You can see Dangsan Railway Bridge on the left and Yanghwa Bridge on the right. The passing sound of the subway together with the cool breeze gives you a great feeling.
Jamdubong The 9 offers various food such as bbq meat, as well as chicken and pizza. If you want to order Korean BBQ meat, just tell the location of your table and seat when you place order at the checkout counter and they will bring the food to you.
They also prepare small blankets and hot packs for customers who can't stand cold weather. It might get cold because this place is located right next to the Hangang River.
You can also find a store here, so even if you do not order any food, you can buy some snacks or drinks, then find a table to sit and relax, and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
There are various food offered here, but the most popular menu is the pork belly (samgyeupsal). The pork belly comes with garlic, ssamjang and salt that can be eaten with lettuce, kimchi and meat, which is the basic side dishes. If the side dishes are not enough, you can top up by using the self service bar inside.
The meat doesn't get burned so quickly because it uses a stone pot grill. Due to the strong wind from the river, they have added a windshield on the pot to block the wind. The owner is really considerate.
