When you walk around in the alleys in Mangwon-dong, you will discover many hidden bakery shops. In this post, we will be introducing two bakery shops in Mangwob-dong where you can take-out and bring it home to enjoy home cafe.
# Milomil
The first bakery shop is Milomil that can be found in a small alley in Mangwon-dong. You will be able to find this shop easily thanks to the brick building, warm wood interior and large Korean word on the wall. Milomil is open from 12:00 to 20:00, Tuesdays to Sundays, and is closed on Mondays.
The shop is quite small but you can enjoy a variety of freshly baked bread.
Firstly, we will introduce the bakery that you can find here. For example, scones, canele, madeleine, etc.
In addition, you can buy freshly baked bread that are baked on the same day, such as ciabatta, baguette, croissant and milk bread. Popular bread are often sold out if you come here late. If there is any bread that you wish to try, it is recommend that you visit this shop early.
Coffee and other beverages are also available in Milomil, so you can order it together with bread. We bought back some bread from the shop.
Food we bought - Milomil's popular salted butter bread, olive ciabatta and scone.
The cute salted butter bread is one of the bestsellers in Milomil. There are some grain of salt on top of the round and cute bread so you can enjoy both the savory and salty taste. It is chewy and tastes like butter and salt. Although it looks quite normal, you will keep thinking about the taste after trying this.
The scone is made with whipped cream and butter to make it soft. The crystal sugar on top of the scone makes it sweet and crunchy.
Another bestseller in Milomil is Olive Ciabatta. It is soft and moist, so it is delicious even if you just eat the bread alone. The bread is filled with olives and has a light taste. It can also be a meal substitution.
You can make it into a sandwich, but we recommend you to dip it in olive oil with balsamic vinegar for great taste.

# Kwaja Seowon
The second bakery shop that we will introduce is Kwaja Seowon. It is located not too far from Milomil by walking. For bread lovers, we recommend you to visit both bakery shops when you cme to Mangwon-dong.
Kwawa Seowon is open from 13:30 to 20:00 on Monday - Saturday, and is closed on Sundays.
Inside this small bakery shop, the bread is baked as soon as it opens, so you can buy freshly baked bread right away if you come at the right time. When we visited the shop in the morning, there were Earl Grey Madeleine, Orange Madeleine and three types of pound cakes.
Besides that, there are three types of scones, baguette, focaccia and canele. If you order sandwich, they will prepare it on the spot. There is a bread that is served at around 4:30pm, so you want to buy this bread, you need to visit the shop in the late afternoon.
We bought caramel apple scone, earl grey madeleine and black olive focaccia at Kwaja Seowon.
We ordered the caramel apple scone because it is quite unique and is not common in other cafes or bakery shop. The apple was boiled and used as a topping for the scone. It has a soft apple and caramel scent, and tastes soft yet chewy.
Next, let's check out the Earl rey Madeleine. The beautifully baked Earl Grey madeleine has a strong aroma and taste of earl grey. When you eat the moist and sweet madeleine that smells so good, it will light up your mood.
Black Olive Focaccia contains black olives, and it is moist and soft just by holding it. You can eat it with jam, butter and olive oil. Nowadays, it is hard to drink coffee at the cafe due to COVID-19. But thanks to the delicious bread from these famous bakery shops in Mangwon-dong, we are able to enjoy home cafe by ourselves. If you are a bread lover, remember to visit Milomil and Kwaja Seowon when you come to Mangwon-dong.
