Airport Railroad establishes the payment system for overseas credit cards like UNION PAY card

Airport Railroad established the payment system to be able to accept overseas credit cards like UNION PAY in purchasing tickets for Express Train.

It is applied only to purchase tickets for Express Train that runs non-stop between Seoul Station and Incheon Int'l Airport Station. Passengers can use with credit card at Information Center of Seoul Station and Incheon Int'l Airport Station, and also through the mobile fare adjustment machine that cabin crews of Express Train use.

It is established to solve those problems in case tickets and transportation cards of passengers are processed abnormally. As passengers can pay with cash or credit card in case their transportation card is short of its balance, this system can eliminate customer's inconvenience. 

Available cards for this payment system are MASTER, VISA, AMEX, JCB, DINERS CARD, as well as the newly included UNION PAY.

As Mers infection has become calm down, Incheon Int’l Airport has begun to get crowded with foreign tourist visiting Korea again. Tourists taking travel bags even in Airport Railroad running between Seoul Station and Incheon Airport Railroad have visibly increased.

There are exhibition halls of King Sejong’s story and Admiral Yi Sun-shin’s story, below the surface of this plaza, that visitors can experience some of Korea’s History. This exhibition hall is open from 10 am to 9 pm. Entrance is free.

The fastest way to go to 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade by “Incheon Airport Railroad+KTX”

‘Gwangju Universiade’ is to be held at Worldcup Stadium and other facilities in Gwangju, Korea, from July 3 through July 14. About 20,000 participating players from over 170 countries in the world are expected to arrive in Korea through Incheon Int’l Airport or Gimpo Int’l Airport.

Foreign players’ teams and cheering squads arriving through Incheon Int’l Airport are able to go conveniently to Gwangju in which events are to be held through KTX that go straight from Incheon Airport Station to Gwangju or KTX linked with Incheon Airport Rilroad. 

First, KTX trains going straight to Gwangju-Songjeong Station departing from Incheon Airport Station are operated on ten times a day with increased trains during this event, while trains bound for Gwangju from Incheon Airport Station run five times and also another five times back to Incheon Airport Station from Gwangju, respectivley. 

If there are not much train schedules, passengers are subject to the inconvenience to have a long wait for trains unless they arrive on time. In that case, it’s convenient to link Incheon Airport Railroad to KTX.  You just need to go to Seoul Station by Incheon Airport Railroad running between Incheon Int’l Airport Station and Seoul Station and then transfer to subway line 1 to Yongsan Station, take Honam Line KTX bound for Gwangju. As a departure station, Honam Line KTX frequently starts from Yongsan Station.

In the case of linking Express Train of Incheon Airport Railroad to KTX after arriving at Incheon Int’l Airport, it takes about 2 and a half hours to Gwnagju. If you go to Gwangju by vehicle like bus at Incheon Int’ Airport, it takes about 4 hours without any traffic jams.

In the case of arrival at Gimpo Int’l Airport, take Incheon Airport Railroad for Seoul Station and then transfer to subway line 1, getting on KTX at Yongsan Staion.

Meanwhile, Incheon Airport Railroad is operated with trains of two types-the one is Express Train running nonstop between Incheon Airport Station and Seoul Station and the other is All-stop Train stopping all 11 stations.

In the case of linking Incheon Airport Railroad to KTX, reduced fare is applied to passengers for Express Train with KRW 6,900 from KRW 8,000.
