Korean culture not only within Korea but throughout the world is growing little
by little.

That’s why to commemorate
Hangeul Day we have decided to introduce the National Hangeul Museum and talk a
bit about Hangeul history.
What Kind
of Place is the National Hangeul Museum?
The
National Hangeul Museum is a place to preserve,
spread and recreate the value
of Hangeul and Hangeul culture.
The
museum works towards discover and spread wide and far the excellence and
value
of Hangeul and the research that created the letters and fonts of the alphabet
by putting on exhibitions and educational and cultural events.
Hangeul
is the representative cultural heritage of Korea. At the museum, there are
exhibits and experiences along with chances to learn all included in the
museum’s Hangeul library, fixed exhibition rooms, ‘ㅎ Café’,
special exhibition rooms, Hangeul playground, and the Hangeul learning center.

18:00 (Saturday
and the last Wednesday of every month until 21:00)

Permanent and Special Exhibition Rooms
You
can find the permanent exhibition rooms after entering the museum on the right
side where you will see the “Road Hangeul Came On”.
Here,
you will see in detail how people’s lives changed after King Sejong invented
Hangeul.
There
are both exhibitions to just look at and also to personally interact with at
the museum and various ways for you to see more about how Hangeul was
developed.
At
the special exhibition, Hangeul Design: the Transformation of Korean
Typewriters and the Golden Days is currently on display.
You
can learn more about the history modern Hangeul’s development and first
typewriters together with historical pieces from that time.
Hangeul Playground
Kids from ages 6 to 9 may enjoy the Hangeul playground and
learn the meaning behind the characters with the interactive experiences in the
playground.
The principles of Hangeul are divided into three experiences:
‘Easy Hangeul,’ ‘Pretty Hangeul,’ and ‘Come Play at the Forest of Hangeul!’
With these, kids can express themselves in various way using Hangeul.
Hangeul Learning Center
The Hangeul Learning Center is a place to
easily learn Hangeul for foreigners who haven’t quite mastered their Hangeul
abilities.
It’s an opportunity to not only learn Korean
consonants, vowels and their pronunciations in an easy and fun way, but also an
experience to see a part of Korean culture.
Great
Tip: Riding the AREX to the National Hangeul Museum
From Seoul Station Line 4, take off from “0”
and go “4” stops to Ichon Station. Get off and leave through exit “2”. Walk “8”
minutes and you will arrive at the National Hangeul Museum.
