[Hongdae] Pyongyang Naengmyeon (Cold Noodles) - Ryunnam Myeonok

After the Inter-Korean summit, Pyongyang Naengmyeon became so popular in Seoul as many Koreans was seeking out this North Korea Pyongyang style cold noodles. Pyongyang is the capital city of North Korea and Naengmyeon is the cold buckwheat noodles in ice broth.

In May 2017, a new Pyongyang Naengmyeon restaurant called Ryunnam Myeonok (련남면옥) was opened in Yeonnam-dong, the neigbourhood near AREX Hongik University Station Exit 3. Although Ryunnam Myeonok is hidden in the small alleys of Yeonnam-dong, it is usually crowded during lunch or dinner.

Pyongyang naengmyeon is popular in the Summer while beef bone soup and beef bone noodles are popular in the Winter. In addition, when you order 1 person set, boiled pork/beef will be served as well.

Ryunnam Myeonok's Pyongyang naengmyeon (cold noodles) are served with radish pickles, fried eggs and beef. What makes this naengmyeon different from other restaurant is that the naengmyeon in Ryunnam Myeonok is served in clam broth.
