Novel Korean Experience: Introduction to Myeongdong Street Food

Greeting from AREX. :)

Aren’t you curious to what is Korean street food exactly?

I will introduce you to a place chalk full of delicious street food: Myeongdong!

Tornado Potatoes

The representative street food of Myeongdong, the tornado potato, is a potato sliced in a spiral like a tornado fried on a long skewer. There are both an onion and cheese flavor and the price in 4,000 won.

Egg Bread with Seeds

If Busan has hodduk with seeds, then Myeongdong has egg bread with seeds. This bread with almonds, peanuts and sunflower seeds on top is popular for its savory flavor and great texture. It’s also inexpensive at just 2,000 won.

Addictive Corn

Savory and grilled golden-brown, this sweet and salty “addictive corn” is placed on a skewer and slathered with butter. It sells for 4,000 won a piece.

Hongmandang: Strawberry Mochi

The menu is diverse with grapes, kiwi, oranges and the like. However, strawberries are the most popular and representative food here. Hongmandang sells them in a limited quantity so you have to be quick to buy them!

Each one is 2,800 won and if you buy several they will put them in a box for you.

We have now finished looking at the various street foods available in Myeongdong!
