Novel Coronavirus Preventive Measures by Airport Railroad

To deal with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the control room will be on 24-hour operation... and strengthening the disinfection work for equipment inside the train and facilities at the station.
February 6 - An emergency meeting chaired by President Kim Han-young was held to strengthens the protective measures against COVID-19.





As confirmed cases of new coronavirus infections continue among inbound travelers using Incheon International Airport and Gimpo International Airport, the Airport Railroad's President Kim Han-young, said that protective measures are taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

From January 21 onwards, Airport Railroad staff will be given masks and hand sanitizers. In addition, following government's policy, a 24-hour "Novel coronavirus response control room" will start its operation from January 28 onwards.  Besides that, a weekly directorial meeting is held to thoroughly check preventive measures.

On February 6, 10 a.m., an emergency meeting chaired by Airport Railroad's President Kim Han-young was held, and disinfectant work on all 28 AREX trains will be increased to once a day, whereas equipments in the train, washrooms in train, ticket machines, gate, and other equipments that are often used by passengers will be cleaned with disinfectant from time to time.

To prevent any disruptions in the supply of disinfectant items, the department in charged will manage the disinfectant items of the whole station, as well as taking care of the disinfection work in the stores inside AREX station.

In addition, President Kim Han-young has prepared an emergency work system in case of an emergency, and if necessary, to mobilize all personnels, including staff at the headquarters, to avoid any possible disruptions in train operation.

At the AREX stations that have many passengers such as Seoul Station, Hongik University Station, Geomam Station and Incheon International Airport Station Terminal 1 & 2, disinfectant mats have been placed at the entrance to prevent the virus from going outside.

At the Seoul Station's City Airport Terminal, the boarding procedures for passengers who visited Hubei Province in China within 14 days based on boarding date will be suspende, and the children's experience programs is not available for the time being.

"We are always monitoring the information on the outbreak of COVID-19 and will do our best to prevent further spread of the virus after passengers have taken the Airport Railroad," said President Kim Han-young.
