TOP 5 Recommended Movies to Watch at Home this Spring

When we saw the trees with thin branches sprouting blue leaves and various grass flowers blooming along the road, it means that spring has come. Today, we will introduce five movies that boast beautiful colors, just as how spring has made the world colorful.​


1. Little Forest (Korean title: 리틀포레스트)

The film "Little Forest" starring Kim Tae-ri, is about the story of Hye-won, who took a break from her daily routine and returned to her hometown. She spends four seasons in her hometown, cooking every meal with her own crops. Looking back at herself in the past and the present, Hye-won puts the first step in her brand new life as Spring approaches.

Cooking and food are important elements in the movie, so it featured nice color of nature-friendly food. When you look at the green vegetables, golden fried foods, and colorful food ingredients on the screen, you will surely get hungry.

It is also fun to see the scenery of her hometown and countryside changing over the seasons. In fact, the movie was filmed during the actual season to make you feel the season better. Scenes that show the colors of the hometown is like bringing back the smell of the perfume which you have forgotten.


2. Attila Marcel

Paul, the 33 years old main character, became mute because of the shock of his parents' death. Having been cared for by his two aunts, Paul happened to visit the house of his neighbour - Madame Proust. Madame Proust helps Paul remember his childhood using madeleines dipped in herbal tea. Paul had a bad trauma about his father, and he spends time with Madame Proust and tries to face the trauma.

Just like the title suggests, the main background is at Madame Proust's garden, which creates a fresh atmosphere, and her tea and madeleines give off a strangely warm atmosphere. In particular, warm yellowish colors are used throughout the movie, giving viewers the feeling of reading warm and cozy fairy tales.



3. Grand Budapest Hotel

The story of the movie begins with a girl's book. The book tells the story of Zero Moustafa, the hotel owner, who met the book author at the Grand Budapest Hotel, which is in the Alps.

It is a story about the hardships, love and friendship that Gustave experienced when he was chased as a suspect in the murder of Madame D, the world's richest person.

Beautiful colors, fairy-tale props, and there are many visual elements to enjoy, such as the ratio of screens that changes from time to time. In particular, the pink pastel tones that symbolizes the Grand Budapest Hotel catches the eye of viewers.


4. Life of Pi

Pi, who operates a zoo in India, experienced in shipwrecking while leaving the country with animals on board. He was alone and survived on a lifeboat, and drifts along with injured zebra and hyena, orang utan and Bengal tiger. It is a movie with a surprising twist with the story of a boy drifting with animals in the sea until he is rescued.

Because the background of the story is the sea, you can see scenes with various colors at different time and weather. A bluish morning, a blue lunch, the colors of the sky and sea at the orange sunset well represent the flow of Pi and Richard Parker(Tiger)'s adrift life. Moreover, you can enjoy beautiful visual in the scene whereby jellyfish is shining in the sea on a dark night.

Jazz pianist, Sebastian and aspiring actress, Mia drawn together by their common desire to do what they love. This is a story about their youth, love and passion, who work hard for their dreams but suffer from failures. La La Land, a fictional city for dreamers, is a title that well reflects the theme of the film.

Overall, it features diverse colors and beautiful visual that use light well. It is reflected in the scene where Mia goes to a party with her friends and when she dances with Sebastian in the moonlight. Also, colors such as neon sign brings the audiences into the movie.



Although we couldn't fully enjoy this year's spring due to social distancing, we hope that everyone can have a good time watching these movies with beautiful colors resembling spring.
