[AREX News] Special Inspection of AREX facilities for Chuseok Thanksgiving Holiday

CEO Kim Han-young visited Yongyu base station; Request to follow the train maintenance guidelines and prevention of human error.

Airport Railroad (CEO Kim Han-young) announced on the September 16, that AREX has conducted a special inspection of railway facilities that are linked to train operations in preparation for the Chuseok Thanksgiving Holiday.

On the same day, CEO Kim Han-young visited AREX Yongyu base station to check the overall work of changing wheels and the processing work of contact surface on wheel.

Due to the nature of the AREX train that travels at the speed up to 110 km/hour on the rails, when there is just a small damage on the wheel surface, the vibration and noise can be felt in the cabin. Therefore, it is important to change the wheels at appropriate time through disassembly maintenance (heavy maintenance) inspection, and carry out processing work to manage the shape and to maintain its optimal condition.

"We eradicate human error through systematic and standardized train maintenance guidelines, and put in best effort to prevent accidents by doing thorough inspection on the train wheels and maintenance equipment," said CEO Kim Han-young.

In addition, CEO Kim also check the new outer appearance of the AREX Express Train that is currently in the preparation of getting new design.

The AREX Express Train has been operating for 13 years since March 2007, and the exterior has become discolored and contaminated. The new exterior has changed from paint to film wrapping method.

The front of the train uses the 'AREX Orange' color, which is the main color of Airport Railroad Brand Identity (BI), and it shows the AREX vision as fast and forward-looking. There are also three white lines extending from the front to the side, representing the fast speed of AREX that runs from the downtown Seoul to Incheon International Airport in 40 minutes.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, AREX Express train has stop its operation since April because of the restriction of international passengers at Incheon International Airport to take AREX train. However, it will operate again when the situation gets better.
