Title : Today I saw cherry blossoms at my house
Because of covid-19, I couldn't go outside so I just see the photos of cherry blossoms taken in last year.
I turned on the song about Spring, and my mood got better.

Four Academy Awards, Korean Film 'Parasite' Filming Locations in Seoul

First Asian film to win the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival, Best Foreign Language Film at the Golden Globe Awards, Best Film Not in the English Language and Best Original Screenplay at the BAFTA, Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best International Feature Film at the Oscars.

It is the Korean Film "Parasite". The screening of black-and-white version of the film "Parasite" has been delayed due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), but this film remains popular on the Internet. As an example, "Taiwanese castella cakes" was mentioned in one of the script lines and the cake became famous in Taiwan now. Besides that, some of the famous Hollywood stars also posted  pictures about jjapaguri (Ram-don).

This time, we visited the filming locations of "Parasite", the movie that became a hot topic globally.

Doijissal Supermarket
32, Songijeong-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul
Airport Railroad (AREX) Hongik University Station ▶ Transfer to Line 2 ▶ Get off at Chungjeongno Station Exit 6, Walk 10-15 mins

First location is the Doijissal Supermarket, which is shown as "Woori Supermarket" in Parasite.

This is the scene where Ki-woo and his friend met and had soju under the beach umbrella. You will see the ice-cream fridge outside the shop.

The beverages that sell in this shop is similar as the other supermarket in neigborhood. You can also buy snacks that could be found during the old childhood times.

Stairs in Ki-taek's village
3, Songijeong-ro 6-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul
Airport Railroad (AREX) Hongik University Station ▶ Transfer to Line 2 ▶ Get off at Chungjeongno Station Exit 6, Walk 10-15 mins

Located not too far from Doijissal Supermarket is the second filming location - the stairs towards Ki-taek's village.

This is the scene where Ki-taek's daughter, Ki-jeong bought peaches and carried them up the stairs.

Director Bong Joon-ho tried to illustrate the gap between the rich and the poor through the steep stairs at the end of the alleyway.

As this is a residential area, visitors are asked not to cause any interruptions to the residents.

The stairs of Jahamun Tunnel
219, Jahamun-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul
Airport Railroad (AREX) Gongdeok Station ▶Transfer to Line 5 ▶ At Jongno-3ga Station, Transfer to Line 3 ,Get off at Gyeongbokgung Station Exit 3, transfer to Bus
○ Bus #1020, #1711, #7016, #7018, #7022, #7212 ▷Get off at [Jahamun Tunnel Entrance], walk 1 min

After getting off at Gyeongbokgung Station, you can transfer to bus and then get off at the Jahamun Tunnel entrance (approx. 5mins bus ride).

After getting off the bus, walk a little upward and you will come to the stairs that lead to Jahamun tunnel. This is the stairs where Ki-taek's family ran away from Park's house on a rainy night.

What would have been in Ki-taek's family's mind as they walked through this endless tunnel?

Sky Pizza(Pizza Generation)
86, Noryangjin-ro 6-gil, Dongjak-gu, Seoul
Airport Railroad (AREX) Gimpo Station / Magongnaru Station ▶ Transfer to Line 9, Get off at Noryangjin Station, Walk 1 min

Although they did not show the entire exterior of the Pizza Restaurant in the film, the "Sky Pizza" in Noryangjin has became a popular tourist attraction because of Parasite. In the beginning of the movie, Ki-taek family gained income from working part time at the pizza restaurant named "Pizza Generation".

Sky Pizza is a local family-run pizza restaurant that was opened since 2002 and it has been operating for about 18 years. They start to make the pizza dough the moment they receive an order. After this restaurant became a famous filming location of Parasite, they just got busy and have been making pizzas non-stop.

The pizza restaurant owner was the one who taught them how to fold the pizza boxes. The pizza boxes that were used in the film are displayed in the restaurant. In addition, you can also find a guestbook and the movie poster of Parasite there.

Sky Pizza is located in a neighborhood where many local residents live. Thus, visitors should be cautious and not to cause any disturbance to the residents.

Since the weather is getting warmer, how about taking a walk at the alleys and find the scenes that appeared in the movie?

[AREX 999] Tips for Using the Express Train and the Standard Train

 Greeting from AREX :)

For travelers heading overseas this coming winter,
this is how you can buy tickets for the train and airport railroad, which will allow you to go from the airport to the downtown area.

Let’s jump right into it, shall we?

The Differences Between the Express Train and the Standard Train

When heading out from the airport, there are two types of trains you can take:
the Express Train and the Standard Train.
Let’s take a look at the differences between each train.

The biggest difference is comfort and price.
The standard train is much cheaper compared to the express train
(9000 KRW for adults), and it stops at all 14 stops.

The express train is a bit pricier than the standard train,
but passengers can make use of services such as reserved seating,
washrooms, and drinking water.

The most useful aspect of the express train is that it allows passengers
to go directly to the airport from Seoul Station.

This has been a rundown of the main differences between these 2 trains!

Now, we’ll take a closer look at the advantages each train has to offer.

Using the Express Train

The express train quickly connects Incheon International Airport and Seoul Station without any stops in between. Unlike the standard train, the express train is a high-class train that provides specialized services to customers.

Here, customers can make use of services such as reserved seating, electric carts, a cabin crew, and free Wi-Fi.

Using the Standard Train

The standard train comfortably connects to the metropolitan area urban railway via 8 continuous transfer stations and provides outstanding accessibility between Incheon Airport and downtown Seoul.

From Seoul Station, it takes 50 minutes to get to Terminal 1 of Incheon Airport, and the price is 4150 KRW to Terminal 1 with a pre-paid transit card and 4750 to Terminal 2.

With its comparatively low price and high number of transfer routes, this train is used frequently by many people daily.

How to Purchase Train Tickets

The Standard Train allows passengers to utilize pre-paid transit cards
and single-use transit cards or season transit tickets.
The transit cards most commonly used by the majority of people are available for purchase at convenience stores in train stations or at regular convenience stores.

Pre-paid transit cards can be charged at automatic ticketing machines
in each station or at convenience stores.
If you purchase a single-use transit card when using the airport railroad
and metropolitan area urban railroad route, you will need to pay a deposit fee (500 KRW),
which you can have returned to you at a deposit fee refund machine
once you arrive at your destination.

For the express train, passengers can purchase tickets
at the express train customer service center or at a ticket machine.
The price is 9,000 KRW for adults and 7,000 KRW for children.
When the ticket is issued, there will be an extra deposit charged to you (500 KRW),
which you can have returned to you when you arrive at your destination.

The ticket price is higher than the standard train,
but there are also many types of discounts available.
A group discount will be applied if 3 or more people are using the train,
which brings the price to 7,500 KRW per person.
There are also other discounts available, such as the airline partnership discount,
return coupon discount, and course discount, which will allow you
to purchase tickets at low prices.

The airport railroad will allow you to comfortably move around both the airport and the metropolitan area. We wish you an enjoyable end-of-year trip.
