Do you still exchange foreign currency at the airport?

As more and more passengers are now using AREX trains from Seoul Station to Incheon International Airport, the foreign exchange booths located in Seoul Station have become more popular.

There are two exchange booths run by Woori Bank and IBK, which offer a foreign exchange commission that is one twentieth of that offered by the exchange booths at the airport.

This means that the exchange booths at the airport charge 20 times more commission to exchange your money than those at Seoul Station. Some even say that “the money you save can cover your AREX fare if you exchange money in AREX Seoul Station.”

Generally, the exchange booths situated in the airport charge a much higher commission due to the high rent and operational costs for their 24-hour operation.

However, the exchange booths in Seoul Station charge the same rate of commission as commercial banks. In addition, they always offer commission discount promotions to attract more AREX users. For certain currencies, you can get up to a 90% discount on the exchange commission.

As the news of this low exchange commission has spread, more and more foreign tourists have been stopping by the exchange booths in the Seoul Station. Indeed, the customer load is expected to increase as the number of AREX passengers continues to soar.

Woori Bank Exchange Booth is located on the B2 floor, which you have to find in order to take an AREX train. In particular, the booth is located next to the City Airport Terminal; thus, those who check-in at the City Airport Terminal and many AREX passengers stop by.

IBK Exchange Booth is located on the 2ndFloor, next to the entrance of KORAIL Seoul Station and AREX Seoul Station. Its location is more convenient for passengers transferring from the KTX or Subway Line 1 or 4 to AREX Express Trains bound for Incheon Airport.
