Tips for Saving Money on Non-stop Express Train Tickets

A nonstop Express Train AREX ticket from Seoul Station to Incheon International Airport (58km) is available for KRW8,000 until the end of the year, which is over 40 percent off the regular ticket price of KRW14,500. In addition to this discount, here are some tips to save you even more on your trip to the airport.

1. Additional discounts for alliance partners

- Passengers of carriers based at the Seoul Station City Terminal (Asiana, Jeju Air, Korean Air): KRW 6,900

- Traffic card for Incheon International Airport staff : KRW6,900

- Members of travel agencies (Hana Tour, Online Tour, Parang Balloon Tour): KRW6,900

2. Discounted nonstop Express Train(AREX) tickets for KTX passengers

KTX passengers and passengers of select KORAIL trains, such as the Saemaeul-ho, may purchase discounted nonstop AREX tickets for the low price of KRW6,900. KTX passengers may book their discounted AREX tickets online or using their mobile device, but passengers of Saemaeul-ho and other means of KORAIL transportation must visit the AREX customer service desk and present their train tickets to receive a discount.

3. Group discounts

Groups of four or more passengers are eligible to purchase nonstop AREX tickets for just KRW 6,000 KRW2,000 off the already discounted price. The larger your group, the larger your discount. These special group rates are available for a limited time only, from April 7 to June 30, 2014.

4. Discounts for children and seniors

Children under the age of four can ride the nonstop AREX for free, and children under six years of age can ride free on all regular trains and the Seoul Metropolitan Subway. Seniors ages 65 and up are eligible to purchase nonstop AREX tickets for KRW6,900 starting 2014.

5. Other discounts

Passengers holding a valid ISIC (International Student Identification Card) and members of the Korea Youth Hostel Association are also eligible for discounted nonstop AREX fares until the end of this year. Present your membership card or alliance card at the customer service desk or the travel center at the station to purchase a nonstop AREX ticket for KRW6,900, a total of KRW1,100 off the already discounted price of KRW8,000.
