But there are much more various and tasty foods in Korea than those ones. Let’s depart to find hidden tasty foods by Incheon airport railroad from now on.




Incheon airport railroad connecting Incheon airport to Seoul downtown area has many transferable stations to Seoul subway like Hongik university station, Digital media city station and Gongdeok station, and so on. Due to comfortable and easy transfer to Seoul subway stations, foreign tourists are used to take airport railroad for the city tour of Seoul.

The destination of this time by Incheon airport railroad is “Mangwon market" that may get traditional tastes of Korea. Transfer to subway line 6 at Gongdeok station and go out of exit 2 at Mangwon station after moving 5 stops.

This market is a traditional one located between row houses of Mangwon-dong and sells various kinds of food ingredients at a low price. This market began to take hold as a new hot place, after many shops here went on airs as cheap and generous serving ones. Let’s meet tasty and famous restaurants at this market.

1. New flavor, ‘Halim dak-gangjeong’ (fried chicken covered with sweet and sour source)



This place is famous for fried large intestine of chicken that some famous popular entertainers praised its taste very highly with swallowing them in a wink over the air. Large intestine of chicken is an expression that vulgarizes chicken gizzard and tastes more chewy and savory than fried chicken. Foods made of large intestines of chicken gain popularity with chinese tourists owing to its unique savory taste.

If you are unfamiliar and uncomfortable with this food, next recommendation is to try eat dak-gangjeong. Dak-gangjeong is the food that mixes fried chicken cutting into small pieces with various spices such as sweet, hot & spicy flavor. You cannot help licking your lips, the moment you see it. It’s cheap, just as 3,000~4,000 KRW based on a cup of it.

2. How about gimbap(dried seaweed rolls) with deep-fried squid at ‘ delicious house’?




This is the most crowded place at Mangwon market. This gimbap with deep-fried squid stuffed in is a special menu which is able to find only here. It is served at a reasonable price of 3,500 KRW similar to other gimbaps. Spicy anchovies boiled down in soy sauce and other seasonings are included in gimbap to take greasy tastes away. It is stuffed in fully and so you can feel to be full just with one gimbap. Other foods like sundae(stir-fried Korean sausage), tteok-boggi(stir-fried rice cake) do also taste terrific, besides gimbap with deep-fried squid.

3. ‘Wondang croquette’, a famous restaurant for its croquette that can enjoy at a reasonable price



This small bakery located on the edge of Mangwon market serves its croquettes at 1,000~1,500 KRW which are cheaper than other ones. It sells various and distinctive kinds of croquettes such as pizza cheese and cream cheese that are hard to find at other places, as well as regular ones. And also customers can enjoy crispy texture of croquette as it is because this bakery make and sell croquettes just on the spot.
