Greeting from AREX :)
Today, we are talking about a place in Mapo-gu with plenty of
transfers allowing you to
easily reach the center of Seoul!
I introduce to you: Gongdeok Station.
Located in the midst of residential development, Gongdeok
Station’s curved glass roof is
a sight to see in a place allowing simple
transfers.
Starting with AREX, transfers are conveniently available all
riders along the 5, 6, and
Jungang Lines.
For the safety of passengers,
safety equipment is stored within the station with a
emergency exit located at
the very end of the platform to be used if necessary.
Useful information related to the trains such as train
locations and estimated arrival
times is available in real time and easy to see
for men and women of all ages.
Purchasing of tickets, recharging of transportation cards,
and adding fare to a current
ticket are all available at the information
center, so if you are in need of assistance, just
ring the bell and someone
will come to assist you in person.
Further, outside of Gongdeok Station’s gates are both a
defibrillator and deposit refund
machine installed for passengers’ safety and
convenience, respectively.
Within the station is a
noodle specialty shop called “Noodle King” and a chicken and
burger specialty
shop called “Tenjoy” so you can have a nice simple meal.
There is also a convenience store called “emart24” where you
can buy a variety of good
from foods, drinks, and daily necessities. So,
whenever you are moving about the station
or making a transfer, you can
conveniently stop by and pick up whatever you need along your way.
So far we have discussed what all is INSIDE the station, but
how about we take a look at all the attractions you can take advantage of
OUTSIDE?

Tasting Jokbal and
Jeon at Gongdeok Market
Known as Seoul’s
“Five Generations Market,” Gongdeok’s 2-dong neighborhood features a narrow
jokbal(pig’s feet) alley filled with history and various jokbal stands lined up
one after the other.
If you walk along the jokbal alley,
you will encounter great smells stimulating your appetite in addition to
colorful renditions of jeon(Korean pancakes) from jeon stands lined up along
the alley.
Here, you can try bindaetteok (mug
bean pancake), buchimgae(vegetable pancake), and other various jeons and fried
delicacies that will make you fall in love with the market. 😊
