Greeting from AREX :)
In Korea, many people go
with their co-workers and friends to have a drink at the neighborhood alleyway
shops.
Today, I will introduce two
places where you can eat and drink at a super market for a unique experience!
Sinsaegye Supermarket
The Sinsaegye Supermarket on
Seongmisan-ro in Mapo, Seoul is a market from the old days that is bustling
with people and large, old Korean signs from various places within the old
Yeonnamdong neighborhood.
Neighborhood Super Market Reappearance
There are shelves and tables
full of various Korean snacks and ramen for you to get a gentle feel of Korea.
Here, you can choose
whatever fits your fancy and request help cooking the food to immediately enjoy
your snacks.
Apart from ramen and snacks,
there are also inexpensive foods to enjoy along with other beverages you can
grab yourself in the fridges.
In particular, men and women
of all ages can get a taste of Korea by trying the sweet and spicy rice cakes
or the ramen with black soybean paste and egg.
Yeonnam Super
The exterior’s 80’s
appearance and interior’s simplicity with walls covered in doodles allows you
to get a good feel for Korean drinking establishments. The walls and all their
doodles show the marks of all the previous patrons and their many hours of
drinking at the bar.
Korean Bars
There are a variety of foods
to enjoy at the bar including dried Pollack, squid and other grilled foods
along with noodle and soup dishes, too. There are also 10 types of alcohols
that you can only try in Korea, so you can have fun picking and choosing things
to your liking.
The signature and most
popular dish at the Yeonnam Super is the grilled dried pollack! If you dip it
into the mix of green pepper, soy sauce and mayo, it will really hit the spot!
That’s all for today on the
Sinsaegye Supermarket and Yeonnam Super!
We hope you get a feel for
Korean bars by enjoying a drink after a day of sightseeing!
