Implementation of disinfection work inside all trains 112 times in a month.
With the increasing number of the confirmed cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Korea, the threat alert level has increased to orange level in January. President Kim Han-young from Airport Railroad said the disinfection work for all the AREX train will be implemented to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
When a person is infected with the COVID-19, it will be accompanied by respiratory illness with symptoms such as fever, cough, and breathing difficulties within 2 to 14 days.
Disinfection for train seats, walls and floors is done more than 112 times in a month on all the Airport Railroad(AREX) train. Besides that, the parts where customers often have contact with, such handles and the surroundings of entrance doors, will also be cleaned with disinfectant.
In addition, the elevator buttons, escalator handles and automatic ticket machines at all 14 stations from Seoul Station to Incheon International Airport Terminal 2 are cleaned and disinfected with ethanol sanitizer more than twice a day. All single journey tickets will also be sanitized.
As for the Express Train which is widely used by foreigners, additional cleaning of the train and disinfecting washrooms inside the train are carried out while the train prepares for next operation at the last terminal.
Also, AREX is doing our best to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by providing masks and hand sanitizer to the staff at AREX station and giving itinerant education to the health care managers.
