Rooftop Cafes in Ikseon-dong - Tiger Tiger & Hey Juli

#1 Tiger Tiger (타이거타이거)

Sulla-gil is a road that is next to Jongmyo Shrine, which the guard (patrolman in older days) during the Joseon Dynasty used to patrol and guard against fire and thief at the night. As Ikseon-dong has become a hot spot, there are more and more pretty cafes and shops in that area, including Sulla-gil that is located next to Ikseon-dong. We will be introducing a famous rooftop cafe in Seosulla-gil named "Tiger Tiger".

It takes about 3-5 minutes walk from Jongno 3(sam)-ga Station, Exit 7. This place is famous as the Hanok (Korean Traditional House) Rooftop Cafe in Ikseon-dong. The entrance is located at the side of the building.

Tiger Tiger Cafe is at the 2nd and 3rd floor of the building. It is decorated in a flower cafe concept on the 2nd floor. When you enter the cafe on 2nd floor, you will be greeted by colorful flower pots and flowers. This is the photozone where many people will stop by to take photos.

However, it is a different feel and environment in front of the counter. The characteristics of the hanok (Korean traditional house) remain intact, and the stone walls of Jongmyo Shrine are also clearly visible. It is also a place where cool wind comes in through a wide window and it makes you feel good.

Tiger Tiger Cafe is a cafe and pub. Other than coffee and beverages, beer and wine are also available. There is a table for bigger group inside the cafe, so even if you come with a group of friends, you can sit comfortably.

Moving to the side, there is a window that seems like a frame. Seosulla-gil road seems more beautiful from the window. Tiger Tiger Cafe's special and nice interior is one of the reasons why many foreign visitors visit here.

There is another hidden spot in the cafe. Turn and go towards the entrance, after passing by the blue door on left side, take the stairs up to the "Pink Top".

The 3rd floor of Tiger Tiger Cafe is decorated in pink and has the shade that protects you from sunlight and rain. It's a rather small rooftop, but it's really nice because the tables are wide and the seats are comfortable.

At the rooftop of Tiger Tiger Cafe, you can see Ikseon-dong and Jongno at a glance. On a day with clear sky, you can even see Namsan Tower!

The signature dessert menu here is the handmade Tiramisu. They prepare the Tiramisu only after you place an order; and you can choose from several flavors such as original, matcha (green tea), and Earl Grey. Would you like to enjoy some desserts and have a cup of milk tea together at Tiger Tiger Cafe?

Keep this in your must-visit cafe list and come here the next time you visit Seoul.

#2 Hey Juli (헤이줄리)

If you walk along the stone wall of Jongmyo Shrine, you will see another unique road named Dongsulla-gil. Hey Juli Cafe is a popular rooftop cafe located on Dongsulla-gil, and many officer workers who work around this area love visiting this cafe.

Many office workers come to this cafe to eat toast bread during lunch time. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes for them to prepare the toast bread, but since you can order it in advance, it is recommended that you make order in advance. Other than that, you can also find a variety of signature drinks and desserts here in Hey Juli Cafe.

Hey Juli's charm begins on the 2nd floor. This cafe is spacious and you will see a big window and nice interior on 2nd floor. The white interior makes this space looks neat and pretty. At the side, you will be able to see the seats for larger group.

Most importantly, it looks like a picture when you see the seats in front of the window. The stone wall of Jongmyo Shrine is clearly visible through the wide window, and this makes it a truly spectacular view!

Hey Juli Cafe's rooftop is on the 3rd floor. It's pretty chilly because there is a tent that blocks the sunlight. This rooftop provides a panoramic view of Jongmyo Shrine and Wonnam-dong.

The rooftop of Hey Juli Cafe is indeed a good place to take a rest because it is spacious and comfortable. Also, if you take a picture with this background, the picture will turn out nice!

If you want to take a break and slow down for the day, we recommend you to visit Hey Juli Cafe that is near Ikseon-dong.

Every corner in Hey Juli Cafe has delicate touch. Both 2nd floor and rooftop are well constructed.

Take note that the toast is really delicious and it is a famous lunch place among the officer workers in this area. The popular menu is Egg bacon toast and rose chicken toast, so we recommend you to try this when you visit this cafe next time.
