[Incheon] Cheongna Lake Park

The Autumn season, that is suitable to take a walk, has arrived. In this post, we will introduce the Cheongna Lake Park that became famous as the filming location of K-drama "Goblin".

To get to Cheongna Lake Park, take AREX train to Cheongna International City Station, Get off at Exit 1. From there, take Bus #46 and get off at Cheongna Lake Park bus stop.

After you get off from the bus, walk towards the lake park and you will see a bridge.

Cheongna Lake Park consists of four zones - Eco Zone, Traditional Zone, Leisure Zone and Art Zone. It is a large park with an area of 693,000. There are various facilities in each zones, so you can have a lot of fun here.

When you walk to Traditional Zone, you will find the Cheongnaru Pavilion. Cheongnaru Pavilion is one of the representative facilities of Cheongna Lake Park, which was built based on Gyeonghoeru pavilion at Gyeongbokgung Palace.

Since it is built at this wide open lake, it makes the pavilion look more amazing.

You can find cute rabbit sculptures near the Cheongnaru Pavilion.

The Traditional Zone is a space with the theme of Korean traditional culture. There are Hangeul-shaped chairs, and the history of Hangul are written on the wall, so you can learn about it.

You can also find the rain gauge and sundial. The characteristics and usage of each cultural assets are described here so that people can learn more about Korean traditional culture.

The trails in Cheongna Lake Park are separated into bicycle path and pedestrian path. Thus, it is also good to go for a bike ride here. Since Cheongna Lake Park is really huge, we would like to recommend you to take a bike ride to look around this place. In addition, speakers are installed along the trail so you can enjoy a pleasant walk while listening to the classical music that is broadcast from the speaker. You will be able to hear the announcements (if any).

If you love flowers, you can also walk around while enjoying the flowers that blooming along the walking paths. This spot with all the blooming flowers is definitely a photo spot.

Another attractive point at Cheongna Lake Park is the beautiful and unique sculptures found here.
Some sculpture brings meaning. For example:
The ring sculpture - When you enjoy the view of the lake with your family or lovers, you can fulfil your promise.
As for the heart-shaped sculpture, it's a perfect spot to take a picture with your family or lovers with the lake as background.

In addition, there is a big sculpture that symbolises the identity of Cheongna. The 7 gems that surrounding the sculpture represents the 7 islands at the western coast.

As you walk along the path, you will see green foxtail (or green bristlegrass) and fountain grass. Since there are benches installed at many spots, you can take a short break when you feel tired. Together with the fountain grass, the windmill sculpture that turns when the wind blows give a more romantic atmosphere.

Just looking at the field full of fountain grasses makes me feel calm and peaceful.

Also, there are sports equipments and multiplaza that consists of inline track and lawn. It is also good to visit this place with children as they can run around freely.

One of the reasons why people visit Cheongna Lake Park is to enjoy the famous music fountain that is being played at night. When you walk in from the entrance, after passing by the heart-shaped sculpture, you will be able to see the water fountain.

However, during our visit to Cheongna Lake Park, the music fountain was not in operation due to social distancing level 2. The music fountain usually operates from April to October, during day time and night time with each session of 40-mins music fountain show. Do visit this place after we have overcome the COVID-19 situation.

How about visiting Cheongna Lake Park to enjoy the cold breeze while taking a walk, the beautiful scenery and various facilities in this Autumn?
