If you suddenly crave for sweet dessert while traveling in Seoul, you can visit these cafes that sell delicious doughnuts!
#1 Cafe Knotted (Anguk branch)
Cafe Knotted started its first shop in Cheongdam, and have opened another branch in Anguk area. For the bread or doughnut lovers, this has become the must-visit cafe when you plan your trip around in Bukchon. The images outside the cafe will catch your attention and greet you first before you enter the cafe.
The size of the cafe is quite small, but the cute interior suits this doughnut cafe.
They sell about 10 types of doughnuts in Cafe Knotted. Besides doughnuts, they also sell croissants and other various types of pastry so you get a wide selection. Normally the popular doughnuts get sold out quite fast, so do come here early if you wish to try out their popular doughnuts.

Beverages are also served here so you can enjoy the food and drinks at Cafe Knotted. During our visit, we ordered Americano and four types of the popular donuts - Strawberry whipped cream, Milk whipped cream, Classic vanilla and Earl grey.
They have also prepared some coloring materials at Cafe Knotted. You may take one and enjoy colouring while waiting for your order to be served.
There are many people who take-out the doughnuts, but if you are having it in the cafe, you can put the number card on the table and wait for the staff to prepare your coffee and doughnuts.
Upon receiving the order, we took a bite of the strawberry cream doughnut, which is one of the most popular flavor at Cafe Knotted. The whipped cream and sweet strawberry blends well with the soft doughnut. Although they place the doughnut in a small paper cup, we grabbed it with our hands and eat it. Before you eat it, you may wash your hand at the small basin available in the cafe.
Another interesting point of Cafe Knotted is that they pack the doughnuts in a cute box. Normally there can put 2 - 6 doughnuts in this pink and yellow box with a smiley face on it.
It is best to consume the doughnuts you bought within same day. However, if you can't finish it in that day itself, it is recommended that you keep it at room temperature in your room (instead of fridge), and eat it again on the next morning.
The dough is chewy and not greasy, and is filled with sweet cream but it is not too sweet. For those who love cream doughnuts, we recommend you to try the milk cream and classic vanilla flavor doughnut.

#2 Awesome Donut Seoul
The next doughnut shop that we want to recommend is Awesome Donut Seoul located at Hapjeong. There is no sign outside the shop, but you can find it easily because of the bricks outside the shop.
Awesome Donut Seoul is a small donut shop that is available for take-out only as there is no space for you to dine in. It is quite small but the interior is simple, and you can spot the doughnuts that are displayed on top of the table.
The flavor of doughnuts varies depending on the season, and we saw 6 flavors available on the day of our visit. Since it is not a shop that sells a large amount a day, it is recommended to come here early because often the doughnuts are all sold out way before their shop closing.
There are 6 types of doughnuts - Awesome doughnut, Red bean doughnut, Mint chocolate doughnut, Pumpkin doughnut, Umami doughnuts and The doughnuts. Out of the 6 types, we ordered the most popular ones - Awesome doughnut, Mint chocolate doughnut and Red bean doughnut.
Just choose the doughnuts that you wish to buy and the staff will pack it in the bag right away. Awesome Donut Seoul is open from 12 pm to 8:30 pm but will close early when all doughnuts are sold out. It is normally closed on every Sunday and Monday, but it might change every month. Please refer to the Awesome Donut Seoul Instagram for the notice/announcement before visiting them.

The signature doughnut, Awesome doughnut, is a unique doughnut with avocado. It may look ordinary, but when you put it in your mouth, the aroma and taste of the soft avocado is so amazing. The sweet avocado cream is also suitable for those who don't usually like to eat avocado.
Just like the name, red bean is filled on top of the doughnut but it has a unique taste that is similar like peanut butter. The combination seems to blend well. The doughnut is full of whipped cream and the taste is impressive.
Mint chocolate doughnut has a pretty mint color. Some of you may not like mint flavor food, but this doughnut in mint chocolate flavor does not have a strong mint taste so everyone can give it a try! The chocolate and mint cream blend really well and it is not as sweet as you think.
Both Cafe Knotted and Awesome Donut Seoul serve a different types of doughnut with various filling and using unique ingredients, unlike the usual plain doughnuts. Let us all enjoy a sweet doughnut time!
