[Walking Course in Incheon] Subong Park (ft. Night View)

It is difficult to just stay at home in Autumn when there are so many beautiful autumn leaves outside. However, due to the current COVID-19 situation, we can't go out as freely as we were before. At this time, one of the popular activities is to take a walk at a park.

In this post, we are going to introduce the 'walking paths in the forest for everyone' at Subong Park that was built last December.

The "walking paths in the forest for everyone" at Subong Park was built using the green fund received from a program organized by the Korea Forest Welfare Institute in 2018. This project was launched in nationwide for the disabled, elderly, children, etc to enjoy walking/using the park without any inconvenience.

Subong Park functions as rest area and sports facility for residents' health that has easy walking paths. This green space in the city has attracted many people. In Spring, it is filled with beautiful cherry blossoms while in Autumn, it is filled with colorful autumn leaves. It is a nice place to visit in early Spring and Autumn.

Together with the "walking paths for everyone in the forest" at Subong Park, the Forest Experience Center for Little Children was also built to let little children experience the various functions of forest. In addition, it was built with the intention to help them develop and build up emotions. The forest experience in the city that you can enjoy freely and comfortably make things more special.

You can find over 50 year-old Himalaya cedar trees along the walking trails here. You probably can't smell the scent of forest properly when wearing a mask, but do take a slow walk and enjoy the breeze in the forest.

There is braille on the handle along the deck for people with visual impairment. Besides that, there are other facilities such as electric wheelchair charger, forest bathing and others.

At the end of the walking path, you can see the city view of Machuhol-gu, Incheon. The tall buildings at the city is such a contrast to the walking path that we came from.

If you walk around in the Subong Park, you can learn about the history of Incheon. You will see the  memorial facility such as battle monument of Incheon district during Korean War and monument of Student Volunteer in Japan during Korean War. In 1976, Subong Park was built to conserve the memorial tower, and various facilities was prepared which makes it become how it is now.

Recently, lights were installed on the transmission tower on the top of Subong Park, which makes the night view even more spectacular. The tower lights up in different colours among the dense trees which makes it a great picture. If you enjoy the walk at Subong Park, you should also take a picture in front of  I ♡ MICHUHOL sculpture with the colourful tower as your background.

After enjoying the Subong Park, you can walk out by following the lights along the walking trail. We hope you will have the chance to experience and enjoy Autumn in Subong Park next time.

Remember to wear masks, maintain social distancing, and frequently wash hands to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
