[Seoul] Seonyudo Park

Seonyudo Island was originally a small mountain called Seonyubong but it was cut off during the Japanese colonial era, and collecting rocks to prevent the flood and pave the way.

Later, it was used as a water filtration plant to supply tap water to Seoul. On April 16, 2002, it was reopened as an ecological park. Currently, there are facilities such as the Han River Exhibition Hall, water purification park, time garden and water playground where you can learn about the history and ecosystem of Han River.

Seonyudo Park is located in the middle of Yanghwa Bridge, so you can take a bus from AREX Hongik University Station to get here. This park is relatively close to the city center and is a good location if you wish to go for a short walk.

Seonyudo Park is famous for its colorful fall foliage in the Autumn.

When we visited Seonyudo Island, we enjoyed the scenery of colorful autumn leaves. Since there weren't many people in the park, we had a quiet walk.

If you visit Seonyudo Park in Autumn, you can enjoy the beautiful autumn scenery of red and yellow trees almost everywhere in the park.

Seonyudo Park has various exhibitions and experience programs, but some has changed their operating hours or temporary closed to prevent the spread of COVID-19. If you wish to visit the exhibition these days, it is recommended for you to contact them and check the schedule before coming.

Seonyudo Park is a recycling ecological park with some parts that are rusty, so your hand may get dirty.

Seonyudo Park is quite huge and the walking trails are nice, thus it is good to go for a jog or walk here.

When we visited Seonyudo Island, it was the time when autumn leaves are falling.

The former water purification plant is just as it was in the past. It looks so colorful in the Autumn.

In the past, this place would be crowded with people who visit with their family and friends, but it looks so different now. Although the park is not crowded, you still have to wear a mask when you walk around.

Somewhere in the center of the park, you will find the machinery that was in used when the place was water purification plant previously. This discharge valve is an equipment used to discharge rainwater into the Han River when a large amount of rainwater enters the Seonyu Water Purification Plant. Seeing how rusty the machine is, makes you feel how long the equipment has been placed here.

Although we couldn't go to far away places to enjoy fall foliage this year, we feel satisfied to enjoy fall foliage in a park near the city.

The rustling sound of autumn that can be heard when we take every step indeed makes us feel good.

Other than different kinds of trees, you can also find various types of flowers and plants in Seonyudo Park. You will feel relaxed just by looking at those plants.

There is also a small section where you can find silver grass field. When you see the silver grass moves in the wind, you can surely feel that Autumn is officially here.

If you walk along the walking trails, you will find a playground for the children, and other facilities such as restroom and chairs.

Seonyudo Park, located at the center of Han River, is known to be the best place to enjoy sunset at Han River.

At Seonyudo Park, there is an observatory where you can enjoy the spectacular view of the Han River.

If you visit this place during sunset, you will be able to witness the change of colors in the sky.

Besides the observatory, there are a few spots in the park overlooking the Han River. You can also enjoy the view of Han River at the cafe located in the park. So if you wish to enjoy a cup of coffee and have a relaxing time during your trip in Korea, we would recommend Seonyudo Park to you.
