[Walking Course in Seoul] Enjoy Silver Grass at Heunginjimun Park

Heunginjimun Park, located in Dongdaemun area, is connected to the Seoul city wall. It is filled with silver grass  in Autumn and is one of the best places to go for a light walk in the city. In this post, we will introduce Heunginjimun Park that is painted with beautiful cosmos and silver grass.

Heunginjimun Park is located next to Dongdaemun, so it is easy to find this place. There are market  and Changsin-dong Hanok Village nearby so it is recommended to visit these attractions as well after your trip at Heunginjimun Park.

It is quite spacious and not crowded. You can enjoy some quiet time by yourself here.

You can enjoy the spectacular view of silver grass during Autumn and take a lot of pictures.

If you enter and step in between the silver grasses to take pictures, it may cause the silver grasses lay down. Therefore, it is recommended to take picture outside those silver grasses.

The beautiful silver grasses that sway in the wind connects with the old city wall.

As you can see silver grasses at Heunginjimun Park only in the Autumn, if you are visiting Korea during this season, do consider to add this in your list.

In Heunginjimun Park, the walking path is separated into a few sections and it allows people to walk comfortably while keeping social distancing.

A large peach tree, donated by Jeonju City in April 2020, is planted in the center of the park. In fact, peaches will grow on this tree in Summer.

In between the silver grasses, you can also find cosmos flowers that bloom. When you see the beautiful cosmos, you will feel the Autumn season right away.

Heunginjimun Park is special because there are not many opportunities to see real flowers in the center of the city.

In the middle of the Heunginjimun Park, there is a red tree that will catch attention of many people. It is the Crape Myrtle ("baerongnamu" in Korean). They say that when you touch the tree trunk, the leaves will move.

The Crape Myrtle will take about 100 days from it first starting blooming to falling off. During this 100 days, many flowers will bloom and fall off, and bloom again, therefore this tree always have flowers blooming during that period of time.

Heunginjimun Park is also connected to the Namsan course of Seoul City Wall walking trail. You can take a rest at the park and continue walking to Namsan.

If you look closely at the seoul city wall, it feels like you are back in the past.

When you look down from the hillside at Heunginjimun Park, you can see the view of Dongdaemun at a glance. The roads in the city and cultural heritage forms a beautiful scenery.

At the entrance to Heunginjimun Gate, there is a small gallery known as "Jongno City Gallery Art Window" that is operated by Jongno-gu since 2013. Art Window holds various exhibition for a period of time, but it displays royal palace jewelry box and flower crowns now. These items are not easily found at other places, so if you have the chance to visit Heunginjimun Park these days, it is recommended that you visit the Art Window.
