If you choose Korea out of a large list of countries,
you’re sure to be stirred up with thoughts of its spicy foods.
As such, I will introduce the unique food experiences
chosen by CNN in this blog’s TOP 7 spicy foods!
Of the various foods to choose from, I will now talk
about just what made the list!
Seventh Place: Hongcho Fire Chicken
In seventh place, we have a
chicken dish smothered in a spicy sauce: Hongcho Fire Chicken.
Just a few years ago, fire
chicken started to become quite popular.
I really hope you try some
fire chicken with mozzarella cheese on top together with a refreshing beer! 😊
Sixth Place: Yupdduk
In sixth place, we have
Yupdduk!
It’s actually a bit
surprising to see that this place wasn’t higher up the list. Of the many types
of spicy rice cakes available, Yupdduk has approximately 80 locations and is
known for being on the spicier side.
Don’t think about it as
trying some spicy rice cakes. Rather, you will feel your tongue lose sensation
from the agony of the spiciness.
In particular, the original
and soy sauce flavors are a bit exceptional even for Koreans, so be careful
when you choose the spiciness level.

Fifth Place: Abiko Curry
In fifth place
we have Abiko Curry’s most spicy dish! Although Abiko is actually Japanese
food, there’s a reason why it appears on the list of spicy Korean foods.
That reason
being that when Japanese people eat curry, they don’t make it as spicy as
Koreans. In fact, even Japanese people
visit Korea just to try Abiko Curry.
Fourth Place: Spicy Braised Short Ribs
In fourth place
we have spicy braised short ribs. Normally, Korean braised short ribs are made
with a sweet sauce. For those who elect
to try the spicy version, you will experience a new that is quite different
from the traditional dish!
Third Place: Mugyo-dong Stir-fried Octopus
In third we have
Mugyo-dong Stir-fried Octopus.
Originally,
stir-fried octopus is made with a red pepper paste sauce, but Mugyo-dong
Stir-fried Octopus transcends idea.
While the
spiciness is neutralized by the amount of red pepper paste, sesame seed sauce,
bean sprouts, and friend rice I suggest that you only put in a little red
pepper paste when you eat the fried rice. :)
Second Place: Shingil-dong Spicy Jjamppong
In second place
we have Singil-dong Spicy Jjamppong. It became well-known by appearing on TV
and being shared on SNS.
There is a spicy
challenge for one person that is so hot that it beckons spice-lovers from
around the country to stop by and give it a try.
They say that
with just one spoonful of the broth your tongue will be paralyzed.
It’s so spicy
that people say you should bring a carton of milk along. Aren’t you curious
just how spicy it must be?
First Place: Onnuriae Spicy Pork Cutlet
The greatly
anticipated first place: Onnuriae Spicy Pork Cutlet!
I’m sure there
are those of you who find it a bit strange that first place is just a pork
cutlet.
The original
name is actually “The Entire World’s Pork Cutlet,” however it would be fair to
call it “The Pork Cutlet of Death”.
If you are able
to eat the entire dish in 20 minutes, you can enter into the hall of fame. The amount of people who can claim that they
concurred the supreme spicy are few and far between, so those who are confident
enough to take the challenge are sure to have a lot of fun in the process.
