Greeting from AREX :)
Today, we will introduce a
place to feel and see the refreshing winds and clear skies of Korea’s autumn.
It’s the Donuimun Museum
Village!
The Donuimun Museum Village
is a place to feel the retro vibes of Korea in the 60’s to 80’s. If you’re at
all interested in Modern Korea, you have to come have a look!
Donuimun Museum Village
Almost like a scene out of a drama, the Donuimun Museum
Village is located in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
The area’s restored buildings from the 60’s to 80’s have
found new life in the form of a museum. :)
It’s a place to indirectly experience life and culture from
Korea’s modern times in the 60’s to 80’s.
Further, while entrance is free, every day between 2:00 and
4:00 PM play docent tours are available.
Village Exhibit
At the
Life History Exhibit, you can get a taste of modern life and the history of houses
from the independence movement.
In addition, there are
Donuimun exhibits, experience and a variety of other things to see and do.
You can also learn about
Korean history and the assortment of items from these analog times at the
museum.
Retro Korean Space
At Donuimun’s Computer
Game Room and Saemoonan Comic Room, you can enjoy 60’s to 80’s games and
comics.
The first floor is a
gaming room restored to its former glory,
While the second floor is
a comic book room where you can read comic books from that time period!
Even if you missed out on
life from the 60’s to 80’s, you can still experience analog life here. :)
Further,
there are spaces with barber shops and theatres which were popular amongst
Korean parents through the generations.
While the
barber shops from the 60’s and 70’s have been restored to how they once looked,
the theatres that were ever so popular as date spots now has an exhibition room
allowing you to still appreciate movies and comics from that period.
Also, the Seodaemun
Photography Center has a professional photographer who can take and print your
photo right away, so be sure to check it out
:)
Education Experience Center
At the Education Experience
Center, you can experience and make 7 different types of Korean crafts
including hanji (traditional Korean paper), calligraphy, embroidery, and
dakjongi (paper dolls). Here, you will feel the atmosphere traditional Korea.
:)
That’s all we have for the
Donuimun Museum Village.
We hope you come and
experience Korea’s modern history, culture and feel the retro sensibility only
available in Korea. :)
