AREX: How to transfer to subway line 1 & 4 through transfer passageway of Seoul station, after using Incheon airport railroad

The transfer passageway of Seoul station connecting Incheon airport railroad to Seoul subway line 1 & 4 was opened on March 28. It becomes more convenient for foreign tourists to travel Seoul downtown area such as Myeong-dong, DDP(Dongdaemun Design Plaza) and Hyehwa-dong.

Before it was opened, passengers had to come out of gates for airport train and then walk up to the 2nd floor, passing through the waiting room of KTX Seoul station, going to the subway line 1 & 4. As passengers can transfer to subway line 1 & 4 through the transfer passageway of the 3rd basement, transfer time is shortened from 12~15 minutes to 5~7 minutes.

The transfer passageway connects the waiting room at the 3rd basement in Seoul station of Airport railroad with the waiting room at the 1st basement of subway line 1 and 4. The entrance of transfer passageway to airport railroad is located in front of station office and behind GS convenience store at the 3rd basement and the entrance of subway line 1 is next to the exit of Seoul station of KTX. The entrance of subway line 4 is located somewhere halfway of the waiting room of the 1st basement.

Meanwhile, passengers can transfer at Seoul station with the commuter's ticket and the disposable traffic card. They have to use the transfer passageway to get the transfer discount.

And also there are two ways to use the transfer passageway of subway line 1 & 4, when passengers using express railroad come to Seoul station from Incheon airport station.

1. getting off express railroad → the platform of the 7rd basement → coming up the 2nd basement using the elevator → input the ticket of express railroad into the gate → after coming out of the gate, go down to the 3rd basement→ purchase the ticket through disposable traffic card's machine → touch the disposable traffic card to the card reader at the gate of the 3rd basement → move to the transfer passageway of subway line 1 & 4.

2. getting off express railroad → the platform of the 7rd basement → move to the 6th basement → going up to the 3rd basement and taking the escalator → input the ticket of express railroad into the gate → after coming out of the gate, purchase the ticket through disposable traffic card's machine → touch the disposable traffic card to the card reader at the gate of the 3rd basement → move to the transfer passageway of subway line 1 & 4.

▲ The transfer passageway is located in front of station office of Incheon airport railroad and behind GS convenience store at the 3rd basement.

▲ The transfer gate and information center is installed at the entrance of the transfer passageway.

▲ Passengers can find the transfer passageway to go up by using the elevator. Moving walker may help users to move easily and comfortably.

▲ Users can go to subway line 1 turning to the left and get to subway line 4 turning to the right at the crossroads of subway line 1 & 4.

▲ Coming up to the 1st basement to Seoul station of the Gyeongbu line(KTX) from the platform of subway line 1, the entrance of the transfer passageway is next to the exit gate to Seoul station of KTX.

▲ There are transfer signs on the pillar to the transfer passageway of subway line 1 from the entrance of transfer passageway of subway line 1 and the platform of subway line 4.
