Travel in Korea by the exotic 'trolley bus'


New specialty was created for foreign tourists visiting Korea. It's 'trolley bus' that Seoul Metro City tour refreshingly launched. Now, foreign travelers can use easily trolley city tour bus which is able to be seen only in the world-class tourist city in Seoul, Korea.

After making it's first appearance in Gangnam last year, Seoul Metro City expanded its operation to the whole area of Gwanghwamun. It starts off and comes back to Gwanghwamun by way of Cheonggye plaza, Myeong-dong, Namsan, 63 Building and Sinchon. As areas such like Gwanghwamun, Myeong-dong, Hongik University, Namsan and Sinchon can be reached conveniently through stations of Incheon airport railroad, it seems trolley bus is popular with foreign tourists.


This trolley bus that was introduced this time had been made by Ford Inc, USA. It's exterior is old train-shaped and its interior is equipped with walls and chairs made of oak along with pillars made from brass. The brass bell hung on both of its interior and exterior would add the atmosphere of antiquity, with ringing "ding-dong, ding-dong, ding-dong" whenever it arrives at the stop.


According to the operating company of Seoul Metro City tour bus, trolley bus held the event of a trial ride on April 1st and then began an official operation from the following day. It is scheduled to run by turns with a double-decker bus currently operating on allocation time. It's fare is 15,000 KRW for adult and 10,000 KRW for child and is the same as the fare of double-decker bus. Users can enjoy shopping and touring all day by taking city tour bus just with 1 ticket.

Take the bus in Ganghwamun and do the shopping in Myeong-dong and then you can move with another city tour bus freely. So users can enjoy tour in Korea more conveniently with this bus than before.


Trolley bus is running by turns with two double-decker buses being operated along with existing panorama route. So, the interval of allocation of city tour bus is lessened to 1 and a half hours. It is expected to improve traffic convenience for travellers. Its route departs from and come back to Gwanghwamun by way of Cheonggye plaza, Myeong-dong, Namsan, 63 Building in Yeouido , Hongik university and Sinchon. As users can see the whole view of Seoul at a glance, this route seems to become a popular one.
