[Bread Pilgrimage in Yeonnam-dong] Butter Bakery and Along Bread & Cafe

Have you heard of "Bread Pilgrimage"?

It is from a Korean word called "Bbang ji sun rae", that refers to finding popular bread and bakery cafe in Korea.  If you are exploring bakery cafes in Seoul, you should definitely visit Yeonnam-dong!

In this post, we will introduce two famous bakery cafe to you which is located in Yeonnam-dong.

# 1 Butter Bakery

Butter Bakery was selected as popular bakery shop in Yeonnam-dong in the Blue Ribbon Survey 2021. For those who is bringing a pet, you can leave the pet tied outside the shop, on the right side of the entrance.

The shop is very small but you can find various kinds of bread and cookies near the wall. Unlike the other bakery shop, Butter Bakery does not prepare trays and bread tongs for you. You have to tell the staff after choosing the bread that you want to buy.

There are various types of ciabatta, and the baguette looks so crispy!

The delicious and healthy mammoth bread filled with ingredients such as red bean, chestnut and whipped cream, as well as the wholemeal bread are the popular menu in Butter Bakery shop.

On the other part of the shop, you can see the delicious cake placed in the showcase. Below it, you will also see the cakes in slices available for sale. You may try a few cakes by buying a slice of each flavor.

At Butter Bakery, the bread and beverages are available for take out only. The price of the drinks written on the menu is from Second Butter Bakery, which is a cafe operated by Butter Bakery. If you wish to sit down and enjoy your food, you may go to Second Butter Bakery. For your information, Second Butter Bakery is closed on every Sunday.

We bought butter pretzel and palmier carre. First of all, butter pretzel is a golden-ish baked pretzel bread with savory butter inside.

The pretzel bread has a soft texture. As soon as you put it in your mouth, the salty pretzel melts on your tongue. Take a bite and you can feel the savory and plain butter blends well with the salty pretzel, giving you addictive taste.

The palmier carre, baked with sugar in the pie dough, is a combination of savory and crispy pie and the bittersweet chocolate on the outside. It is recommended if you wish to try something sweet.

#2 Along Bread & Cafe

Along bread and cafe, located in Yeonnam-dong, is a famous bakery cafe that was introduced in the TV program in Korea called "Today". You can see it in front of the cafe that it was stated the owner chef made all the bread himself and he uses good quality butter and animal fresh cream.

The cafe is quite spacious and it is filled with many kinds of bread. At one side of the cafe, you can find some tables which you can sit down and enjoy the bread.

You can find the normal bread as well as special kind of bread that are hard to find at other bakery shop. The bread looks so yummy.

The fragrant of the bread filled the entire cafe and it makes you want to buy all of them to try.

The cakes with large macarons on top attracted our attention. They also sell drinks in the cafe such as coffee and tea, which is good to enjoy it together with the bread.

We ordered the most popular menu -  ciabatta with ang butter and cream toast made of cream puff with milk butter, as well as a cup of warm milk. You will need to cut the bread into smaller pieces as it is rather difficult to eat in one bite.

The savory butter and sweet red bean paste inside the large ciabatta bread is a great combination. The red bean is not too sweet and the plain ciabatta bread has a wonderful texture.

The cream toast has a moist bread texture and taste rather plain even though it looks sweet. The soft cream puff goes well with milk, and it makes you feel good after eating it. If you are planning to explore bakery shops in Yeonnam-dong, remember to visit these bakery shops!

These days, the store is the hottest place near Gangnam and Shinnonhyeon Station.

You can feel the popularity just by seeing the huge lines of people waiting to get in. :) This is the BTS Pop-up store, HOUSE OF BTS.

Further, thanks to the combination of being located downtown amongst the warmth of autumn trees and soft pink color of the pop-up store, you will feel like you’re hidden away in the middle of a fairy tale.

While in line to get in, you can get a bingo stamp and a pamphlet with a list of goods and prices jotted down.

Visitors who come and visit can get all of the BTS goods such as bracelets, pencils, cards, and more. So, we hope you stop by. :)

B1 : Meet BTS Through Various Goodies

The BTS pop-up store is comprised of four floors from B1 to 3F.

Every floor has its own BTS music playing in the background with B1 housing BTS clothing, diaries, picture frames, dolls, fans and more.

Further, since the number of visitors at one time is restricted, you can freely look around without feeling cramped. The spacious interior allows for a beam screen with BTS music videos playing along with an AR experience next to the registers that allow you to make lasting memories with BTS characters.

1F : Charming Dolls and Cafe Persona

On the first floor is a café and pick up desk. On one side are fridges with BTS dolls spilling out, thus making it a great photo zone.

At the pick up desk you can get started with the bingo event and buying some goods, you can receive them at the desk so you have an even more comfortable visit to the store.

 2F : Music Video Photo Zone

Moving from the 1^st to the 2^nd floor you will find a wall with BTS members and their signatures.

The BTS member dolls and character figurines make this floor bustling with visitors.

Each figurine has that member’s signatures and token phrases written on them making the area THE space with so much meaning in it.

Outside of this is the space from BTS music videos with various photo zones, experiences and goods! Even if you’re not a BTS fan, you can have a fantastic time which will leave you with fun memories.

3F : Large Pillars and BTS Home Theme Zone

As you make your way to the 3^rd floor, you will find a labyrinth of large, slim pillars.

Further, behind the sculptures is a loft with a “home theme”.

Here, in order to make memories with BTS members, many visitors will wait in huge lines! :)
