Masian Beach is the nearest mudflats experience site from the Seoul city, and it is designated as a fishing village experience resort. Masian mudflats are managed by the Masian fishing community to protect the water resources and ocean ecosystem.
For the mudflat experience, there is a fee of KRW 10,000 (middle school and above), KRW 5,000 (elementary school students) and KRW 3,000 (preschool children). A deposit of KRW 2,000 will be required, and upon returning the vest, you will get back the deposit.. Korean hand plow and boots are also available if you wish to rent it.
If it suddenly rains and you do not have a raincoat, do not worry! You can buy them at the store in the mudflat experience site.
You will enter the mudflat experience site following the guide. It's good to know the time when it becomes high tide again. But sometimes people don't realize that the water is coming in when they are too focus at the mudflats. Because of that, Masian Mudflat Experience Center gives you fluorescent vest so that they can easily identify the remaining visitors when that happens.
Masian mudflat is the home of various species such as clams, sea snails, goby fish, shrimps and others. To preserve the mudflat ecosystem, you can only experience mudflat in the designated area that are open on that day. The clams pick up is limited to 2 kg per person.
A variety of clams can be found near the shore. However, to preserve healthy mudflats, you can only collect the clams in the designated area.
Inside the Masian Mudflat Experience Center, there is a washroom where you can wash your hands and feet. However, there will be an additional charge of KRW 1,000 when you clean any equipment or your clothes.
It's free of charge only for visitors who have joined the mudflat experience program.
There are cafes and convenience stores nearby the experience center, so do check them out. After visiting Masian Beach, you can have some relaxing moment and enjoy the beautiful sunset of the West Sea.
