[Vegan Bakery in Seoul] Nnynnyne and The Bread Blue

If you are a vegetarian, or maybe on diet and want to stay away from high calories bread, or allergy to milk or eggs, you might want to check out these vegan bakery in Seoul next time.

#1 Nnynnyne (니니네)

The first bakery shop that we want to introduce is Nnynnyne, a famous vegan bread shop located at the Gyeongui Line Forest Road. It's a small bakery run by local owner, but it has many regular customers thanks to the healthy ingredients that they use and as well as their delicious bread.

The size of the shop is quite small but the interior is neat and has a cozy feeling.

Their vegan bread uses healthy ingredients such as whole wheat bread, glutinous rice flour, unrefined raw sugar, organic coconut oil, non-flavored soy milk, etc. They do not use eggs, butter, milk, fresh cream and white wheat flour. Because of that, the bread has low calories and it also does not contain animal ingredients, so it is good for vegetarians and people who are can't take milk.

There are a few small tables in the shop but due to COVID-19, it is only available for take-out these days. It is recommended that you refer to their Instagram before visiting as their rest day changes every month.

Nnynnyne vegan bread menu changes a little every day. You can check out their menu on their Instagram one day before your visit.

Since this is a bakery shop that uses healthy ingredients, you can find many ingredients that are not found in ordinary bread such as sweet pumpkin, mugwort and perilla leaves, which makes people curious. The perilla leaf scone, which seems so delivious, is one of the popular bread in Nnynnyne these days.

You can only do take-out these days.

We tried three types of bakery - perilla leaf scone, cranberry scone and mugwort fig muffins. These are vegan bakery with no butter or milk, but it is more softer and moist than you think. Instead of the savory taste of butter, the ingredients' natural taste and aroma make the bakery interesting.

The combination of the fragrant perilla leaves in the sweet scone dough is much better than what we expected. The sweet taste goes really well with the perilla leaves. For those who like perilla leaves and scones, you should give this a try!

#2 The Bread Blue

The next shop that we are going to introduce is 'The Bread Blue', a famous vegan bakery with no eggs, no milk and no butter in Sinchon.

Besides the offline store, you can even order the bread from The Bread Blue at online malls. You may  order the bread via The Bread Blue Instagram by stating the store you want to visit and the bread that you want before 11 a.m. every day, and then take a container with you to the store. You will be eligible to get a 100 won discount per bread. Besides that, they also conduct other environmental campaigns such as using handkerchiefs.

Fresh bakery such as whole wheat bread, brown rice bread and ciabatta are popular here. You can also buy 100% whole wheat bread and 100% rye bread, which rarely can be found in normal bakery shop.

In addition, you can also try other bakery that use healthy ingredients, like potato focaccia, sweet potato baguette and garlic baguettes.

Desserts and burgers made of vegan ingredients that are hardly to be seen elsewhere, can also be found in The Bread Blue bakery shop.

We tried the hot sweet potato baguette and spicy ciabatta, both are the popular menu in The Bread Blue.

Like hard dough bread, it is dense and heavy, so you can eat it as one meal too.

Spicy Ciabatta includes jalapenos, black olives and onions for a light but more spicy taste. It is good enough to enjoy without jam, butter or cream cheese.

The best-selling sweet potato baguette contains a lot of sweet potatoes, which maintain the original sweetness of the ingredients and savory of the nuts.

If you have never tried vegan bakery, do check out these bakery shop when you visit Seoul next time.
