[AREX connection] 2019 Gogung Night Time Opening and Arrangement

Hello! This is AREX.
In no time the start of summer has arrived.

Here you can escape the scorching hot sun and enjoy the night time festivities.

I will introduce you to the night time openings of Seoul’s 5 palaces.

1. Gyeongbokgung Palace

The first palace I will introduce is not only famous in Korea, but around the world: Gyeongbokgung Palace.

Since it was announced it will be opening during the Chuseok Holiday (September 12 – 15)
those who would like that have a special holiday experience should stop by the palace.

Tip. If you go to Gyeongbokgun Palace, you can’t miss the hanbok experience!
Take a photo while wearing Korea’s beautiful traditional clothing: the hanbok!

- Date: 07.21~08.03 / 09.12~09.15(Chuseok Holiday) / 09.22~10.05 / 10.20~10.31
- Time: June~August 19:30~22:00 / September~October 19:00~21:30

2. Deoksugung Palace

The third palace I will introduce is a place with beautiful scenery that has taken hold
between the “forest” of buildings in Seoul: Deoksugung Palace.

Compared to the other palaces, the admission fee is inexpensive
so I want to call it a place where you can have a comfortable tour!

Tip. Feeling the Beauty of “Olden Things” Downtown
Deoksugung Palace is famous not just for its beauty but also its stonewall walkway.
I hope you walk down the stonewall walkway at night with a lover or family.

- Date: All Day (Closed on Monday)
- Time: 09:00~21:00

3. Changgyeonggung Palace

The fourth place I will introduce is Changgyeonggng Palace.
Justlike Deoksugung Palace, Changgyeoggung Palace has been open to night time viewing since 2019.

At its entrance, Korea’s traditional lanterns are shared freely so you can imagine what
it was like to be a person from that era.

Tip. Delicate lights along the path.
Beyond the ancient palace of Myeongjeongmun are long delicate lights that line your path
creating an attraction that allows you to feel the palace’s dignity and majesty.

- Date: All Day (Closed on Monday)
- Time: 09:00~21:00

4. Gyeonghuigung Palace (It's not open at night.)

At last, I will introduce our fifth ancient palace. Due to the destruction caused by the
Japanese colonial era, only one part of the painful past remains of Gyeonghuigung Palace.

Now in the heart of downtown the area remains as a to relax comfortably and a learning center for its citizens.

Tip. Seoul Museum of History just opposite of Gyeonghuigung Palace.
After having a nice browse of Gyeonghuigung Palace,
I suggest stopping by the Seoul Museum of History across the street.

- Date: It's not open at night.
- Time: 09:00~18:00

Now we’ve learned a lot about the ancient palaces that are open to night time viewings in 2019!

Instead of under the scorching sun, come feel the charm of the palaces at night!

[AREX Monthly Station] Maker of the Media Industry, Digital Media City Station

Hello. Today, I will introduce you to Seoul’s northwestern gateway:AREX’s Digital Media City Station.
This station is located in the neighborhood of Sangam where it is possible to transfer to both the Gyeongui-Jungang Line and Line number 6.

In the station, there are long benches and displays for people to check the airport’s schedule.
Thus, travelers with carriers or heavy baggage can conveniently drop off their luggage for a bit and rest as they check the time.

At Digital Media City Station, there is a Dunkin Donuts, E-Mart24 convenience store,
fish cakes stand, and various other stores, thus helping you solve your hunger with a simple meal.

For the convenience of all travelers,
there are storage lockers and an ATM allowing for cash withdrawals.
Whether you need to drop off luggage for a bit or need some cash, you may do so easily here.

Now shall we take a look at the attractions nearby Digital Media City Station?

Digital Media City, or DMC for short,
is an assembly of cutting edge IT technology, human resources, and cultural entertainment industries.
As such, it is an urban complex of both Digital Media and Entertainment.

From the outside, you can experience the cutting-edge IT industry thanks to the presence of the
magnificient and refined Korean broadcasting stations like MBC, SBS, YTN, CJ E&M, etc.
One can easily see public broadcasts, live broadcasts, dramas being filmed, etc. in the area.

From the inside, there are beautiful sculptures scattered about.  Further, there are both big and small
events at the Media Town Plaza allowing for new attractions to be seen.

While Sangam-dong’s Seoul World Cup Stadium was the main stadium for the Korea-Japan joint
world cup in 2002, it is now home of the soccer club FC Seoul.

This is not only a soccer stadium, but also an entertainment space including a large supermarket,
movie theater, sports center, wedding hall, etc., thus creating a shopping and leisure space in which residents can feel loved.

The beauty of Seoul World Cup Stadium’s world-renown architecture along with its own public relations
office located inside the stadium itself allows for all to see 100 years of Korean soccer history.

We’ve now taken a look at AREX’s Digital Media City Station and the local area.
There is even more to see and enjoy outside of what we discussed today such as the Oil Tank Culture Park, World Cup Park, etc.
So definitely stop by sometime!

Thank you!
